Here’s the story… Are we sitting comfortably? Good. Then we’ll begin.

While searching the job sites one day, having made up e-mail lists for the job sites to send me certain types of jobs, it suddenly occurred to me that I hadn’t added ‘ESL teacher’ to the list. So, since I was already there, I typed it and had a look. There was very little on offer, but there was one for a college called Carrick, situated in the Valley. Having not used my ESL cover letter since I had updated everything, I copy/ pasted the info from my normal cover letter. Just the basic stuff: my address, the Re line, etc. Well, I remembered to change all the details except for the re line, where I ended up sending it off to the company with Re: Administration position…

When I realised what I’d done, I phoned and asked if I could resubmit .This was fine, but I knew I had blown it. Which was a real shame, since from the website, the school looked incredible.

On Friday the 22nd, I planned to finally swallow my pride and go and see Merc, the manager of Mobil, to see if I could get a job there. I arranged to go in, and was all ready to go and take J to work before going in, when I had a phone call asking if I had applied for the Carrick administration job, or the teaching. After I said teaching, I was asked to come in for an interview at 3pm that day! Yay!

I went to see Merc at 11, and she was very nice. I didn’t even have to fill out an application form, because, if I was as nice and as caring about my job as James, then I wouldn’t have a problem! I told her about the other interview, and she wished me luck, saying that she was sure I would get it, as she was a very lucky person!

James messaged me about half an hour later to say that Merc thought I was lovely. Awww.

So, I got ready, sat and panicked for a while, then headed off to this Carrick interview. It was in the Valley, on St Paul’s Terrace, and I had no idea how to get there. I drove around for about half an hour before finding it, and realised how easy it would be to get to if only I had come off the Story Bridge in the right lane. I sat in the common area just off the foyer in the most incredible campus. Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but after the crap of Holmes, it was luxurious.

The interview before me finished, and out of the boardroom stepped Tristan! I said hello, but he left pretty quickly.

The interview itself went well. I answered all the questions truthfully, and my answers seemed to go down well. I was asked about my views on company policy, and if there was a policy that annoyed me, what would I do? I replied that policy was policy for a reason, and even if you didn’t agree with it, you followed it. I did add that if I found a policy that was discriminatory, or illegal, I would do something about it. He liked that, or at least I saw him tick the point on his sheet.

He showed me around the campus, or at least the floor I would be on. I have found out since that there are actually three floors to the place. Maybe four, I’m not sure.

After that, we went back downstairs, and he said that he had a bit of a problem. He really wanted me for the job, but there was one person left to interview. Ethically, he had to interview the last person, and I agreed. So I waited for half an hour, and he conducted the interview, then showed the girl around the campus as well. I was starting to get worried at this point, but they came back, and she left. Murray (the interviewer, and head of teachers) said that if I wanted the job, it was mine! Well, of course I wanted the job!

I stayed around for another half hour, meeting some of the teachers, and getting the things I needed, since I was to start work the next Monday.

The only problem is that I am teaching pre-intermediate, which is completely unknown to me. My class so far has been good, but probably not as much fun as they are used to. I need to step up with the games a lot more.

So yes, I have a job. And it is awesome. Although I do miss my staying at home all day. That was fun.

I will still look to getting my teacher registration, however.

I am feeling kind of crap today, which may be the diet, or it may be the PMS. Either way, I hope I don’t screw up the interview by passing out.

The new diet started today. It’s only a week long, and I am only into lunch of the first day, so I don’t know how it will go yet. Simply, it is rice and fruit/ veges. Bowl of rice three times a day, and fruit and veges whenever. No tea or coffee, except for green tea. No soft drinks or dairy. Definitely no meat!

I am rewarding myself for each successful day with a small cash bonus. Very small. By the end of the seven days, I should have enough to buy my Triquetra pendant. Still walking in the morning and gym each day. I went to the gym four times last week (Monique came around and gave me the day off on Thursday) and I hope to keep it up.

The first is red, and the positioning of the eyes makes it look angry. The second, blue,  is a little bit special. His eyes are lop sided, his ears are too far back and too close together. He is cute though.

Here’s to making more, and getting them perfect. I am thinking of using these as my Xmas tags this year! Much quicker than cross-stitch!

Oh! And this was one of the things on my achievement list for the year!

So, what am I going to do with this? At the start of this year, I thought about the things I had acheived in 2009, and I didn’t come up with much, I had lost my job, worked through my saving, failed to get pregnant (nothing new there, been failing to get pregnant for three years now) and hadn’t really gone out and done much. I don’t want to look back on 2010, and have to say the same thing. This blog will, hopefully, been used to record things that I have managed to do. It may be little things, like the fact that I managed to do an hour at the gym today, or it coud be big things. (I know the big things I want this year).

I am also going to try and do some more 100 word stories, which I will also post here. If other people read this blog, great, but it isn’t for you. It’s for me.
